A trip is a customer engagement in Columbus - from the first inquiry through costing, quoting, and confirmation. Every trip belongs to a customer (when known) and a team in your company.
What you can do
- Create and track trips through statuses: inquiry → costing → quoted → confirmed (or cancelled)
- Set how many adults and children are travelling
- Open one or more trip options to build different versions of the proposal
- Filter the trip list by status to see your pipeline
How to create a trip
- 1
Go to Trips in the sidebar.
- 2
Click New trip.
- 3
Choose the customer, team, title, and passenger counts.
- 4
Save - Columbus creates a default trip option you can open in the editor.
- 5
As work progresses, update the trip status so everyone sees where the sale stands.
Tips
- You can create a trip before the customer is final - link the customer later during inquiry.
- The trip holds the commercial relationship; options hold the actual plan and price.
- Use duplicate option (on the trip detail page) to offer alternatives without starting from scratch.
Common questions
What is the difference between a trip and a trip option?
The trip is the engagement with the customer. Options are the priced alternatives (e.g. 7-day vs 10-day). See Trip Options.
Who can see my trips?
Owners and admins see all trips in the company. Other users typically see trips for their team only.
Can I delete a trip?
Usually only admins. Deleting removes the options and planning inside that trip - use cancelled status if the sale fell through but you want to keep history.
